In 1984, Winfrey moved to Chicago to host her own daytime talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show. She later became the co-host of a popular morning talk show in Baltimore, Maryland. Winfrey’s career in television began in 1976, when she was hired as a news anchor for a local television station in Nashville. She later dropped out of college to pursue a career in broadcasting. After graduating from high school, Winfrey attended Tennessee State University, where she studied communication. She was also active in extracurricular activities, serving as president of the student council and participating in drama and debate club. At Nicolet, Winfrey excelled academically and was voted Most Popular Girl in her senior year. Winfrey then transferred to the all-girls school, Nicolet High School, in suburban Milwaukee. She was later sent to live with her father in Nashville, Tennessee, where she attended Nashville East High School. Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Winfrey was raised in an impoverished inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She is also an accomplished actress, producer, and philanthropist. Oprah Winfrey is one of the most successful and well-known talk show hosts in the world.
